 A Seminar Entitled: You Are Stronger Than Drugs
 
Prof. Ahmed Gaber Shedid, President of Fayoum University, attended a seminar entitled: "you are stronger than drugs" organized by the General Administration of Community Service in cooperation with the Anti-Addiction Fund and the Nile Media Center in Fayoum on Monday 30/9/2019 at the Central Library.
It was attended by Prof. Mohammed Essa, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, and who is in charge of Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Khaled Atallah, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Mohamed Abou El Nour, Vice Dean of Faculty of Education for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Tarek Abdel Wahab, Vice-Dean of Faculty of Arts for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Amal Gomaa, Vice-Dean of Faculty of Education for Community Service, Dr. Mohamed Shafei, Supervisor of Fayoum Anti-Addiction Fund Programs, and Mr. Mohamed Hashim, General Director of the Fayoum Nile Media Center.
Prof. Ahmed Gaber Shedid confirmed that the Egyptian youth are the hope and the future with their enthusiasm and strength, and therefore Fayoum University is keen to graduate a distinguished student in the academic, cultural and sportive aspects by providing an optimal learning environment and diverse student activities that enable them to manage all institutions and bodies efficiently and competently.
He pointed out that Fayoum University is working as an integrated system and tangible cooperation between all sectors and that a cooperation protocol has been signed to establish a center for the treatment and control of addiction at the university, which will be the first at the level of North Upper Egypt and it has been allocated a place for this center at General Medicine University Hospital. Additionally, he directed students to the need for awareness, culture and care to immunize against addiction.
Moreover, he announced that it would be a prerequisite to stay in university hostels to ensure that students do not have drugs through a campaign to detect drug abuse.
Prof. Mohamed Abou El Nour stressed that the youth are the locomotive of development and future builders, reviewing the scientific and legal definition of addiction and the concept of drug addiction and its prevalence rates at the age groups and different classes of society in addition to the causes of addiction and theories explaining its spread and methods of control and treatment. These include the containment of pedagogical and educational problems for students, building bridges of communication between the university and families, continuous awareness of drug damage, and investing the talents and skills of youth and students in particular.
While Mr. Mohamed Hashim said that the phenomenon of drug addiction has become a fatal social scourge that has spread strongly in recent times and has become a threat to society and negatively affects the capabilities of the nation's development, pointing out that the family and educational institutions bear the burden of detecting addictions and carrying out treatment, control and prevention alike.
And Dr. Mohamed Shafeai reviewed functions of the anti-addiction fund and its willingness to cooperate with all bodies and institutions to provide awareness and treatment services with a view to eliminating addiction.
He pointed out that the Fund will organize a number of initiatives in the coming period in cooperation with Fayoum University and open the door to volunteer for university students to implement these initiatives as effectively.
