Education and training
Dates 09/2010 - 04/2015
Title of qualification awarded Doctorate of philosophy of Agricultural science, major: horticulture, minor: Pomology.
Thesis title: Effect of temperature change on growth and productivity of some mango cultivars grown under Fayoum governorate conditions.
Principal subjects/ occupational skills covered I studied the influence of temperature on behavior of different growth flushes, flowering, sex ratio, fruit setting, dropping and productivity as affected by alternate bearing under Fayoum environmental conditions on five mango cultivars (Mangifera indica L.) namely; “Ewais”, “Alphonso”, “Sediek”, “Zebda” and “Keitt” grown in clay soil in a private orchard at Aboukksa region, Fayoum Governorate, Egypt. I have run research topics related to plant physiology or irrigation. I have lab experience concerning many fruit chemical and physical analyses. I studied also biochemical changes in fruits, temperate zone fruits production, problems of temperate zone fruits production, plant cell physiology, sub-tropical zone fruits, soil management and flowering morphology of horticultural plants. I have prepared 3 seminars relater to fruit quality as affected by water deficit, application of photo selective nets in agriculture and hazards of climate change on fruit trees. Currently I am preparing two publications in the area of possibility of applying imposed climate change to improve fruit quality and to save irrigation water.
Dates 12/2005 - 3/2010
Title of qualification awarded Master of Agricultural science, major: horticulture, minor: Pomology
Thesis Title: Evaluation of some olive cultivars grown under Fayoum new land conditions
Principal subjects/ occupational skills covered I evaluate some olive cultivars (Olea europaea, L.) namely; Arbequina, Cairo 7, Chemlali, Coratina, Frantoio, Hojiblanca, Koroneiki, Manzanillo, Manzanilla Cacerna, Moraiolo, Picual, Picudo and Villalonga grown in Kom Oshem farm, Fayoum Governorate and established by the Egyptian and Spanish project, Ministry of Agriculture in Egypt.
Dates 09/2000 to 06/2004
Title of qualification awarded Bachelor of Agricultural science, major: horticulture
Principal subjects/occupational skills covered I studied the fundamentals of agricultural production in general during the 1st and 2nd years. During the 3rd and the 4th years, I studied -in depth- the production of horticultural crops. I went through the effect of environmental conditions on growth and productivity of vegetable, fruit and ornamental crops then how we can control them. I have been taught how we can manage orchard in the normal or stressed conditions. My bachelor courses contained a lot of information related to plant physiology, plant propagation and breeding, postharvest and handling of horticultural commodities. Also I studied the economic importance and marketing of horticultural plants. Field experiments designing and analysis, agricultural extension topics were also covered.
