In order to consolidate their theoretical knowledge with practical hands-on experience, fourth year architectural engineering students paid a visit to the Smart Village on Thursday 9 June 2011. The visit was co-funded by the University and the Faculty of Engineering. Students were accompanied by Professor Ayman Ismael, Dr. Maged Abduella as well as a number of teaching assistants. Upon their arrival, visitors were received by Dr. Khaled Al-Kobresly, First Undersecretary of Ministry of Communication and Information Technology and Head of Engineering Affairs Sector, and Architect Abdul-Rahman Rahsed. The visitors toured a number of buildings at the premises of the village, including the CULTURAMA, Cultural Panorama, a museum equipped with modern software displaying Egypt's history electronically. It is worth mentioning that the graduation project for this year was the Science and Technology Park which was selected by students in a referendum after the January 25th Revolution. This idea of the project is like that of Zewail Science and Technology City, which has been the talk of the hour recently. It is planned that a number of specialists will be invited to assess the projects and awarding the winning projects trophies in addition to giving them to the government to utilize them. |
