Under the patronage of Prof. Assem Al-Eissawi, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and Dr. Hossam Hassani, Secretary-General of the Egyptian Health Council, Secretary-General of the Higher Committee for Medical Specializations, a coordination meeting was held between Prof. Hamdi Ibrahim, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine representing the university, Dr. Sameh El-Ashmawy, Deputy Minister of Health, representing the Ministry of Health, Dr. Abdel Salam Shalaby, Assistant Secretary-General of the Higher Committee for Medical Specializations, and Dr. Sameh Ramadan, Coordinator of the Egyptian Fellowship Program in Fayoum, representing the fellowship program, to discuss the framework for cooperation between Fayoum University and the Ministry of Health in strengthening the relations between the Egyptian Fellowship and Fayoum University.

The meeting was held at the Faculty of Medicine in Fayoum, during which the accreditation of new departments in the governorate regarding the Egyptian Fellowship Program was discussed, as well as the needs of trainers and trainees at Fayoum University and the Ministry of Health.

Among those present at the meeting were Prof. Essam Ali Hassan, Professor of Digestive System and Training Coordinator at the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Mohamed Safaa, General Director of University Hospitals, Prof. Mohamed Ibrahim Abu Saad, Professor of Surgery, and Dr. Kareem Salem, Lecturer in Internal Medicine.

It is worth mentioning that the proposed departments for accreditation are: Intensive Care Medicine, Vascular Surgery, Pediatric Surgery, and Cardiovascular Surgery. Departments undergoing accreditation include: Orthopedic Surgery and Oncological Surgery. Previously accredited departments include: General Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Anesthesia and Surgical Intensive Care, Diagnostic Radiology, Urological Surgery, Ear, Nose, and Throat Surgery, Ophthalmology, General Surgery, and Interventional Cardiology.
