| Elections were conducted Tuesday to choose the heads of General Surgery Department and Internal Medicine Department. 3 candidates were competing for head of Internal Medicine Department, namely Professor Talal Ahmed Abdel Rahim, vice-dean for Education and Students’ Affairs, Professor Maher Abu Bakr Al-Amir, chair of Internal Medicine Department, and Professor Khaled Ahmed Al-Khashab, chair of Cardiology Department. On the other hand, only one candidate ran for chair of General Surgery Department, namely Professor Ashraf Hussein, professor of General Surgery. Prof. Khaled Al-Khashab won the poll with 20 votes, followed by Prof. Maher Al-Amir who got 15 votes. The third contender Prof. Talal Ahmed Abdel Rahim won no votes. In all, 35 people – 20 faculty staff members and 15 teaching assistants- voted in the poll. Therefore, Prof. Khaled Ahmed Al-Khashab has become Chair of Internal Medicine Department.With no challengers on the ballot, Professor Ashraf Hussein has won the position of Chair of General Surgery Department. It is worth mentioning that the Elections Supervisory Committee consisted of Professor Gamal Abdel-Rahman, Professor Sawsan Abdel Aziz Sadek, Professor Ahmed Abdel Mokatder, and Dr. Naglaa Al Sherbini. |
