| In an attempt to disseminate a culture of research ethics within the university, the Research Ethics Committee, Faculty of Medicine, organized a seminar titled "Ethics of Scientific Research" on Wednesday, January 19, 2001. Held at the Conference Room at the Teaching Hospital, the seminar was attended by a number of high-profile figures, namely Professor Ahmed El Gohary, President of Fayoum University; Professor Abdul-Hamid Abdul-Tawab, Vice-President for Community Service and Environment Development; Professor Mahmoud Kamal, Dean, Faculty of Medicine; and Professor Ashraf Hussein, Chairperson of Research Ethics Committee. On the sidelines of the event, the Egyptian Network for Research Ethics held its fifth meeting. Meanwhile, it conducted a workshop about the theme of the seminar. Setting an example which other peer faculties will follow, the Faculty of Medicine, in fact, is the first academic entity at Fayoum University to organize a workshop in the field of research ethics. It is worth mentioning that research ethics constitute a main pillar of conducting research papers as well as scientific publishing. |
