  Final Conference of Baladna Initiative Hosts the 27th Climate Summit

Under the auspices of Ahmed Al-Ansari, Governor of Fayoum, and Prof. Yasser MagdyHatata, President of Fayoum University, and Prof. ArafaSabry, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and under the supervision of Prof. Ahmed Hosni, Dean of the Faculty, and Prof. Nasser Owais, Vice President for Studies. graduate and research, the activities of the final conference of Baladna initiative, which hosts the Climate Summit 27, launched today, Sunday, 23-10-2022, in the presence of, in the presence of Ms. HamdiyaShaaban, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Social Solidarity in Fayoum Governorate, Mr. Ihab Ibrahim, coordinator of the local platform for the initiative and Director General of the Environment Preservation Society in Fayoum, and a number of under-secretaries, executive, religious and media leaders, representatives of the National Council for Women, faculty members, and students.
Prof. Ahmed Hosni Ibrahim, Dean of the Faculty, confirmed that the Faculty of Social Work's hosting of the final conference of the activities of Baladna initiative which hosts the climate summit, took place by coordination between the local platform for the initiative and the Environment Preservation Society in Fayoum Governorate, which reflects the Faculty's efforts in effective interaction and community participation, to achieve society service and environment development goals at all levels and with regard to civil society issues, especially in light of Egypt's preparations to host the Climate Summit during in Sharm El-Sheikh.
He continued that hosting the final conference of the initiative's activities aims to review companies with the relevant ministries and NGOs in Fayoum Governorate, in order to raise awareness of the causes and consequences of climate change at the local and international levels, in addition to discussing various solutions to address this issue, in a way that guarantees life in more efficient and stable environment for future generations.
Prof. Nasser Owais, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research, indicated that Egypt's hosting of the 27th Climate Summit indicates Egypt's status and weight at the regional and international levels, and in connection with the state's efforts, the Faculty of Social Work was keen to address the efforts of all institutions concerned with environmental and climate protection.
He also stressed that scientific research is the real gateway to facing the problems of society, and therefore Fayoum University hosted a number of scientific forums and conferences concerned with climate, the last of which dealt with the role of scientific research in facing the challenges of climate change, in cooperation with the Fayoum Governorate.
Ms. HamdiyaShaaban, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Solidarity in Fayoum Governorate, explained that all civil society organizations seek to have an influential role in society, and that these organizations have witnessed a remarkable development to confirm that they are the main partner for community work, and therefore a number of projects and partnerships have been undertaken with concerted governmental and private efforts, following up that with regard to the Climate Summit and confronting climate change, civil society organizations put forward a number of ideas to find solutions and contribute to creating awareness among students, through a number of projects that included, the environmental education project to preserve environment, Fayoum Is Better Without Plastic, the virtual museum for Valley of the Whales, LED bulbs and the bicycle project.
She also indicated that the Ministry of Social Solidarity is concerned with the influential role of social women leaders in reaching families to their homes, gaining their trust and providing them with messages that educate families in various social, health and environmental fields, by adopting a new perspective for the female rural pioneer by selecting them according to conditions that meet the requirements of the role entrusted to them, and working on training them as ambassadors carrying renewed messages according to the latest developments.
For his part, Mr. Ihab Ibrahim, the coordinator of the local platform for the initiative and the general manager of the Environment Preservation Society in Fayoum, reviewed a number of topics, which included introducing the initiative and its various activities, and what the local platform of Fayoumgovernorate did in this regard, by carrying out a number of door-to-door campaigns with the aim of Introducing the negative risks of climate change, which were directed to the elderly, women and people of various professions, in addition to conducting various awareness seminars and organizing a community dialogue for water links in the centers of Fayoum Governorate, meeting with directors of youth and educational departments in the governorate, holding seminars with Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, city councils, water and sanitation officials, in addition to competitions, art shows, and landscaping and beautification camps.
The final conference also discussed the role of civil society to protect society against climate change and the developmental role of NGOs and their activities to face the challenges of climate change.
Mr. WissamFarahat, Rapporteur of the Executive Committee for Smart Green Projects, announced that 6 projects from Fayoum Governorate have qualified for competition during the final stages of the initiative.
At the end of the final conference of the initiative's activities, Prof. Nasser Owais reviewed the most important recommendations for the initiative's activities, which included activating ways of cooperation between civil society institutions and relevant ministries represented in health, education, social solidarity, and irrigation, in a way that contributes to raising awareness and strengthening efforts to protect the environment, in addition to supporting ways and aspects of cooperation between Fayoum University and Research Center in conducting research related to climate change and how to face its negative effects, as well as cooperation with the Directorate of Education, to hold awareness meetings in schools to educate young people about ways to preserve the environment against the dangers of climate change and pollution, in addition to cooperation with the Ministry of Social Solidarity on ways to rationalize consumption, and cooperation with the Ministry of Health to hold health education meetings.
In conclusion, the local platform in Fayoum honored Dr. Mohamed Emad, Deputy Governor of Fayoum, Prof.

Ahmed Hosni, Dean of the Faculty, and Prof. Nasser Ewes, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research.
