أهداف القسم:
1- امداد الطالب المعارف الأساسية فى مجال علم الاجتماع وعلاقته بالعلوم الأخرى
2-توظيف مهارات البحث العلمى فى تتبع الظواهر الاجتماعية وتحليلها فى ضوء الماضى والحاضر لاستئاف المستقبل فى بدائل الحلول للمشكلات الاجتماعية
3- تزويد الطالب بمهارات إجراء البحوث التطبقية فى مجال علم علم الاجتماع والمشاركة المجتمعية الفعالة
4- تنمية المهارات الضرورية فى النقد الفعال والعمل الخلاق بما يسد الفجوة بين النظرية والتطبيق
5-ممارسة العمل الاجتماعى فى مؤسسات المجتمع المحلى
6-تقديم الاستشارات الاجتماعية لكافة فئات المجتمع ومؤسساته
7-اكساب الطالب ثقافة المواطنة والمسئولية الاجتماعية والعمل الجماعى
8-تكوين مواطن فعال ومهنى ومبتكر قادر على العمل بكفائة وتميز
9-اكساب الطالب مهارات الحاسوب ووسائل تكنولوجيا المعلومات
