The seminar began with a welcome note delivered by Prof. Dr. Khalil Abdel Al in which he welcomed the audience and the great poet. He also shed some light on the importance of poetry and poets and their role in the liberation of human beings and the whole world of ignorance, backwardness as well as the expression of issues of all peoples. All these aspects are well-reflected in the poetic and artistic works through the ages, he added. In his inaugural speech, Prof. Dr. Ahmed El Gohary has stressed that the university is keen to maximize its role and mission in preparing its students." We at Fayoum University," he says, "usually host a group of writers, cultural figures, intellectuals and media men with the aim of cultivating students' characters as well as their literary and academic skills." In an open dialogue with students, Shousha tackled the relationship between Arabic language and the Holy Quran as in Surat al-Rahman: The Chapter of [God] the Most Merciful, the word eloquence ‘l-bayaan' refers to the Arabic language, which contains the wisdom, and beauty. "The caliphs and their ancestors," he affirms," studied Arabic language and took care of it as they realized that the real value of human lies in the language". He also asked the students to be interested in poetry and reading and not to overlook the ?arak?t, the short vowel marks, and long vowels when talking in Arabic. Advising the media men in Egypt, Shousha said "The key to successful mass media is to be sincere and care for quality rather than quantity". He also called on radio stations and satellite channels to pay more attention to the quality of programs in addition to holding training courses for newly recruited employees in various media sectors. He closed his speech with stressing that the Holy Quran and Quranic schools had a profound effect on the enrichment of the Arabic language to poets. At the end of the seminar, Prof. Dr. President of Fayoum presented the senior announcer Farouk Shousha the University Shield in recognition of his excellence in poetry. |
