1st Child Art Festival Wraps up |

President of Fayoum University Prof. Dr. Ahmed El Gohary and Dr. Huda Yassin, Chairwoman of the Arab Women Investors Union (AWIU) inaugurated the 1st Child Art Festival. Sponsored by Her Excellency Mrs. Suzan Mubarak, the festival runs from April 13 to April 16, 2009. The opening ceremony was attended by a number of high profile figures including Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al Qadi, Vice-President for Education and Students, Prof. Dr. Abdel Hamid Abdel Tawab, Vice-President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Dr. Samir Seif Al Yazzal, dean of Faculty of Agriculture and General Coordinator of Student Activities and festival general supervisor, and Prof. Dr. Sanaa Harun, dean of Kindergarten and festival secretary-general. The festival witnessed a large participation as 2000 female students representing faculties of Kindergarten and departments of child education and kindergarten at faculties of Education and Specific Education from ten Egyptian universities took part in the festival. The participating universities are: Cairo, Tanta, Fayoum, South Valley, Kafr El Sheikh, Beni Suef, Port Said, Minia, Sohag, Suez Canal. The events of the festival commenced with playing the national anthem of the Arab Republic of Egypt, followed by the parade queue of the participating universities which toured the university. It also included sports and art shows and fireworks. Then, the Festival Flame was lit to mark the commencement of the events the festival. After that, Children's Chorus of the participating universities sang beautiful songs and chants. Also, the events included holding a number of seminars on children's literature and medicine titled "Health is wealth". On the sidelines of the festival, the University President and AWIU Chairwoman opened the art gallery , which included products made by female students such as paintings, handicrafts and art works, shows of immediate drawing and drawing on asphalt. The closing ceremony of the festival was held in the afternoon of Thursday, April 16, 2009 at the Grand Convention Hall. It included some songs delivered by the University Chorus, followed by some touching shows of the schools participating in the festival. At last, prizes and shields were distributed to the participating faculties. Moreover, Prof. Dr. Abdel Hamid Abdel Tawab said "On the sidelines of the festival, the University organizes a charity event given by the famous Arab celebrity Moustafa Amar." The revenue from the concert," he continued, "will be allocated to the blind children and unable students." |
