    Conference highlights value crisis in educational institutions

    "Value Crisis in Educational Institutions" was the theme of a conference hosted by the Fayoum Faculty of Education on 29-30 May 2012. The event was inaugurated by Professor Abdel Hamid Abdel Tawab Sabry, President of Fayoum University. Present at the inaugural session of the conference were a number of high profile figures, namely Professor Magdy Hanna, Vice-President, Postgraduate Studies and Research, Professor Farid Awad Hedar, Vice-President, Community Service and Environment Development, Professor Khaled Hamza, Vice-President, Education and Students' Affairs, Professor Ahmed Taha, Dean, Faculty of Education, and Professor Mohamed Al Khabeery, Vice-Dean, Postgraduate Studies and Research. The conference also witnessed the attendance of a big number of participants from the faculties of arts and education nationwide. The meeting tackled four main topics, including philosophy of values with reference to its ethical, educational and social dimensions, values in the light of the traits of the Arab personality, proposed visions for the development of education programs to face the value crisis in educational institutions, and the status quo of courses in the light of value system. In his address, the University President urged the Egyptians to respect all good values, such as respecting the others and constructive criticism. He also noted that the Egyptians proved their respect to their deep-rooted traditions and values during the last presidential elections, calling for cooperation with the next president. Among the speakers was Professor Magdy Hanna who underscored the importance of instilling good manners and values into students so as to have well-learned generations. "The conference discusses twelve research papers and three worksheets focusing on the main topics of the conference," Dean of Faculty of Education Prof. Ahmed Taha noted.
