The launch of the activities of the 16-day campaign to combat violence against women: The Faculty of Education, Fayoum University, organized an awareness training for the Anti-Violence against Women Unit at the Faculty in cooperation with the National Council for Women and the Safe Kids Foundation under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Yasser Magdy Hatata, President of Fayoum University, and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Farouk Al-Khabiri, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and the supervision of Prof. Dr. Amal Gomaa Abdel Fattah, Dean of the Faculty of Education and Organization Prof. Dr. Nohair Al-Shoshani, Director of the Anti-Violence against Women Unit, and Dr. Ebtisam Mohamed Mohamed Coordinator The unit in the college, an educational awareness training was organized at the College of Education on Thursday 24/11/2022, where the training activities witnessed the presence of some unit coordinators in other colleges, some of their students, a number of faculty members in the college, and students. Prof. Dr. Nohair Al-Shoshani explained that the Anti-Violence against Women Unit at the university was keen to organize a number of trainings in cooperation with the National Council for Women and the (Reassuring) Foundation with the aim of educating male and female students regarding confronting and combating the phenomenon of violence and harassment against women. Especially in public places, within the framework of the activities of the (16) campaign of the unit at the university. Her Excellency also explained that the unit's activities did not only target girls, but also young people, as well as urging students to adhere to authentic moral principles and sound values, as they are the first barrier to everything that affects society. Eng. Sarah Selim from the (Reassuring) Foundation also addressed the awareness workshops and treatment services carried out by the Foundation for women exposed to any form of violence and harassment, in addition to discussing the concept of harassment as exposure to unwanted behaviors such as words, actions or suggestions, and the psychological and life effects that this causes that sometimes need treatment that may last for years. During the meeting, the reasons for the reluctance of some people to intervene when cases of harassment occur in public places were also addressed, and the best ways that can be taken in this case, taking into account the guarantees of safety and personal security, which include doing what is known as distraction, delegation, documentation, delay, and direct direction, and those methods would distract the harasser and prevent him from continuing his actions, as well as protecting girls and women from the consequences of harassment.
