Visit of the Expert Team from the Measurement and Evaluation Center at the Higher Education Development Projects Management Unit to the Faculty

Under the auspices of Prof. Yasser Magdy Hatata, President of Fayoum University, Prof. Mohamed Farouk El-Khabiri, Vice President of the University, and Prof. Safaa Ahmed Mohamed, Dean of the Faculty and Director of the Measurement and Evaluation Project, the Faculty welcomed the expert team from the Measurement and Evaluation Center at the Higher Education Development Projects Management Unit today, Monday, 4-3-2024. The team was led by Prof. Sawsan Ibrahim Abu El-Ela Shalaby, the Center's Director, and included Prof. Hesham Ezzat Saad, the internal expert, and Ms. Mona Sameh Abu Hashima, the external expert. This visit marked the conclusion of the period of the project: "Establishment of the Measurement and Evaluation Unit at the Faculty of Early Childhood Education - Fayoum University - Sixth Cycle."
The visit was attended by Prof. Mohamed Bekhit, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Mahmoud Abdel Fattah, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Project Manager, Prof. Gamal Farag, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and former Director of the Quality Assurance Center at Fayoum University, Prof. Tamer Magdy Issa, Director of the Quality Assurance and Strategic Planning Center at the university, and Dr. Mohamed Shaaban Breka, the Executive Director of the Measurement and Evaluation Project at the Faculty, along with the project’s executive team members.
Prof. Safaa Mohamed emphasized the importance of this project, which aims to establish a measurement and mvaluation mnit at the Faculty of Early Childhood Education. The unit's purpose is to reassess and develop the current evaluation process, ensuring that it aligns with advancements in education, quality systems, and technological developments in assessment methods. The project also focuses on enhancing the question bank system in light of modern measurement theories, such as Item Response Theory, electronic assessment, and exam automation.
She added that the project aims to improve the educational outcomes of the Faculty's academic programs, ensuring that students are adequately prepared to meet the demands of both the local and Arab labor markets. This will ultimately contribute to the competitive advantage of both the Faculty and Fayoum University.
Dr. Mohamed Shaaban explained that the Measurement and Evaluation Unit Project aligns with the university's strategy to achieve excellence among Egyptian universities at both the national and regional levels, improving the university's ranking and enhancing its competitive edge in the digital transformation of measurement and evaluation systems (including the design of question banks, electronic tests, and electronic correction).
He also noted that the project is connected to the Faculty's strategy for serving the local community by providing a specialized, well-equipped unit that can be used to assess professionals qualified to work with both regular children and those with special needs in early childhood education in Fayoum Governorate.
The Faculty of Early Childhood Education at Fayoum University is one of the faculties that include in its academic programs the interaction with both regular children and those with special needs. These programs require precise and objective measurement of learning outcomes to ensure that students acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to meet labor market demands and quality standards. The project also aims to establish an electronic mechanism to measure these outcomes.
During the visit, the expert team from the Measurement and Evaluation Center at the Higher Education Development Projects Management Unit visited the Measurement and Evaluation Unit at the Faculty of Early Childhood Education. They met with the project's administrative and executive team to discuss the activities carried out, as well as the project's strengths and weaknesses. The team also reviewed the documents and files related to the project activities and the final report. The visit concluded with the signing of the project handover and receipt minutes, in the presence of Prof. Safaa Ahmed Mohamed, Dean of the Faculty and Project Manager, and Dr. Mohamed Shaaban Breqa, the project's Executive Director.
