Prof. Yasser Magdy Hatata, President of Fayoum University, welcomed the expert team from the Measurement and Evaluation Center at the Higher Education Development Projects Management Unit, headed by Prof. Sawsan Ibrahim Abu El-Ela Shalaby, the Center's Director, and including Prof. Hesham Ezzat Saad, the Center's internal expert, and Ms. Mona Sameh Abu Hashimah, the Center's external expert. This visit took place in the context of concluding the project period for "Establishing the Measurement and Evaluation Unit at the Faculty of Early Childhood Education, Fayoum University, Sixth Session."

The meeting was attended by Prof. Safaa Ahmed Mohamed, Dean of the Faculty of Early Childhood Education, Fayoum University and Project Manager, and Dr. Mohamed Shaaban Breka, the Executive Director of the Measurement and Evaluation Project at the Faculty, on Monday, 4-3-2024.

Prof. Yasser Magdy Hatata emphasized the university's ongoing efforts to enhance academic programs in line with its vision, mission, and goals to develop knowledgeable and skilled students. This aligns with the university's approach to developing new programs and projects that match national development plans, Egypt's Sustainable Development Vision 2030, and local community service, all while keeping pace with labor market requirements and addressing graduates' needs.

Prof. Safaa Mohamed highlighted the importance of this project, which aims to establish a Measurement and Evaluation Unit at the Faculty of Early Childhood Education. The unit is intended to reevaluate and develop the current assessment process, ensuring it aligns with advancements in education, quality systems, and the utilization of technological advancements in assessment processes. It also aims to enhance the question banks system in light of modern measurement theories, such as Item Response Theory and electronic assessment, as well as the automation of examinations.

She added that the project aims to improve the educational outcomes of the faculty's academic programs, ensuring that students possess the necessary skills to meet the demands of the local and Arab labor markets. This will ultimately contribute to the competitive advantage of the faculty and Fayoum University as a whole.

Dr. Mohamed Shaaban explained that the Measurement and Evaluation Unit Project is integrated with the university's strategy to achieve excellence among Egyptian universities at both the national and regional levels, improve the university's ranking among Egyptian universities, and enhance its competitive ability in the digital transformation of measurement and evaluation systems (designing question banks, electronic tests, and electronic correction).

He also mentioned that the project is linked to the faculty's strategy in serving the local community by providing a special and well-equipped unit that can be used to assess professionals qualified to work with both regular children and those with special needs in early childhood education in Fayoum Governorate.

The Faculty of Early Childhood Education at Fayoum University is one of the faculties that include in its academic programs the interaction with regular children and those with special needs. The programs require precise and objective measurement of learning outcomes to ensure that students acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to meet labor market demands and quality standards, and to establish an electronic mechanism to measure these outcomes.

During the visit, the expert team visited the Measurement and Evaluation Unit at the Faculty of Early Childhood Education. They met with the project's administrative and executive team to discuss the activities carried out, as well as the positives and negatives of the project. The team also reviewed the documents and files related to the implementation of the project activities and the final report. The minutes of receiving and handing over the project outputs were also signed, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Safaa Ahmed Mohamed, Dean of the Faculty and Director of the Project, and Dr. Mohamed Shaaban Briqa, Executive Director of the Project.
