Seven steps to setting up a Neuroscience Program at African Universities
Organizer: Richard E. Brown, Dalhousie University , Canada
Neuroscience is a multidisciplinary field. This workshop will examine the components of neuroscience that go together to make a successful neuroscience program. These include the development of an integrated undergraduate neuroscience program; an integrated MSc & PhD neuroscience program; integrated neuroscience research facilities; animal welfare and ethics programs; national & international neuroscience society involvement; student neuroscience societies; and community Involvement. It may take many years to develop a successful neuroscience program, but most universities have the building blocks to start a program, even if it is small. With support of IBRO and SONA, many African universities can develop neuroscience programs.
