In 1975, the Faculty of Education was established in Fayoum as one of the
faculties affiliated with Cairo University. The Faculty of Agriculture
followed in 1976. Later, in 1981, the Faculty of Engineering was
established. In 1983,a presidential decree was issued declaring FayoumBranch
as an independent branch of Cairo University.
Finally, the dream of the people of Fayoum was realized with the issuance of
Republican Decree No. (84) for the year 2005 establishingFayoum University.
This was followed by the issuance of Republican Decree No. (193) for the
year 2005 establishing the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of
Archeology. The two decisions culminated with a decision appointing Prof.
Galal Mustafa Saeed as the President of Fayoum University.After that, Prof.
Ahmed Magdy El Gohary, was appointed as the President of the University from
2008 to 2011, and Prof. MagdyTawfiq Hanna, as the Acting President of the
University from 11/10/2011 to 6/12/2011. Then, Prof. Abdel Hamid Abdel
Tawab, assumed the office of the President of the University from 2011 to
2014, followed by Prof. Khaled Ismail Hamza,from 2014 to 2018, and Prof.
Ashraf Abdel Hafeez, as the Acting President of the University from 2018 to
2019, and Prof. Muhammad IssaSayed Ahmed, in charge of the functioning of
the Universityfrom 30/7/2019 to 17/9/2019.From 18/9/2019 to 31/7/2021,Prof.
Ahmed JaberShedeed assumed the position of the President of the University,
then, Prof. Muhammad Saeed Mahmoud Abu Al-Ghar, in charge of the functioning
of the University from 31/7/2021 to 1/12/2021. Finally, Prof. Dr. Yasser
MagdyHatata, assumed the position of the President of Fayoum University from
2/12/2021 to date.
Faculties
At present, Fayoum University includes 19 faculties and two institutes, which are as follows: Education, Agriculture, Engineering, Social Service, Dar Al-Ulum, Science, Tourism and Hotels, Specific Education, Archeology, Medicine, Arts, Computers and Information, Early Childhood Education, Nursing, Dentistry , Pharmacy, Law, Physical Education and Al-Alsun, as well as the Institute of Research and Strategic Studies for the Nile Basin countries, the Technical Institute of Nursing and the Blended Learning Center.
University Facilities
- The University's Campus that lies on an area of 50 acres and is located in
El-Gamaa area.
- The new Campus whichoccupies a total area of 100 acres in the New City of
Fayoum.
- The University Administration Building, which includes the office of the
President of the university and the Vice presidents.
- The Grand Ballroom with a capacity of (1000) chairs which is equipped with
the latest sound and lighting equipment and central air conditioning.
- UniversityHostels which accommodate about (4,500) male and female
students, and achieve the largest intake rate for university students among
Egyptian universities.
- The Central Printing House, the Central Restaurant and the Medical
Administration.
- Fayoum University Regional Training Center, which is located on the shore
of QarunLake,and includes the Center for Environmental and Geological
Studies, the Center of Tourist Guidance, an environmental monitoring
station, a salinity measurement stationand a social club.
- The Student Activities Center which includes several playgrounds and a
swimming pool.
- The Center for Epidemiology and Disease Outbreak is the first of its kind
at the level of Egyptian universities and is dedicated to conducting applied
research locally and internationally in cooperation with leading
organizations dealing with epidemics.
- The Egyptian E-learning Branch at Fayoum University, which includes two
programs: Computers and Information Technology; and Business Administration
Program.
- Physical Fitness and Kinetic Rehabilitation Center which includes a
kinetic rehabilitation and recovery department equipped with the latest
massage equipment, therapeutic exercises, sauna, Jacuzzi, steam bath in
addition to two hydrotherapy pools.
