The Faculty of Arts was established under the Presidential Decree No. 129 of 2006.

On May 28th, 2006, the Minister of Higher Education and State for Scientific Research issued his decision No. 792 regarding adopting the Internal Regulations of the Faculty of Arts, Cairo University, at the Faculty of Arts, Fayoum University.

The Faculty comprises the following departments:
