Faculty of Engineering Organizes a Seminar on “How to Manage Crises and Disasters”

Under the patronage of Prof. Yasser Magdy Hatata, President of Fayoum University, Prof. Assem El-Essawy, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and Prof. Sherif Al-Attar, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, witnessed a symposium entitled “How to Manage Crises and Disasters,” which was organized by the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Islam El-Helali, Vice Dean of the College of Engineering for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, lectured during it, in the presence of a number of faculty members, directors of crisis and disaster units in the colleges, administrators, and representatives of a number of companies and factories, today, Sunday, 21/7/2024, in the college’s conference hall.
Prof. Assem El-Essawy said that the symposium aims to introduce how to confront crises that may occur in various institutions to reduce their risks, introduce mechanisms for dealing with crises of all kinds, and the importance of coordination between different departments to confront these crises.
For his part, Prof. Islam El-Helali, talked about the role and tasks of the crisis and disaster management units in university colleges, the mechanisms for forming and training crisis management teams, determining the duties assigned to the team, monitoring the effectiveness of security requirements, developing potential risk scenarios and how to prevent them or reduce the effects resulting from them to reduce losses sufficiently, explaining how to manage the crisis, take the appropriate decision, and take preventive measures. Explaining how to manage the crisis, take the appropriate decision, and take preventive measures to contain the damage, the stages of crisis development, their classification, methods to avoid them, and methods for resolving them to achieve security and safety standards to protect lives and property within institutions according to the Egyptian code classifications.
During the symposium, the questions from the attendees were answered and discussed .
