Fayoum University Organizes a Comprehensive Development Convoy in Lahun Village

Under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed Al-Ansary, Governor of Fayoum, Prof. Yasser Magdy Hatata, President of Fayoum University, Prof. Assem El-Essawy, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and the supervision of Prof. Naglaa Al-Sherbiny, Acting Dean of Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Lamia Ahmed Ibrahim, Dean of Faculty of Dentistry, Prof. Al-Shimaa Ahmed, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and Dr. Sameh Ashmawy, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Fayoum, the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector, in cooperation with Hayah Karima Foundation, the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Dentistry, the Faculty of Nursing, and the Anti-Violence Against Women Unit at the University, organized a comprehensive convoy to serve the people of Lahun village and the neighboring villages , in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Gamal, Deputy Coordinator of Hayah Karima in Fayoum, and Mr. Mohamed Ali Taha, Director of the Conferences and Seminars Department in the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector, and Dr. Nevin Shaaban, Director of Primary Care at the Fayoum Health Directorate, participated in implementing the convoy, on Wednesday 14/8/2024 at the headquarters of the health unit in Lahun village, Fayoum Center.
Prof. Assem El-Essawy stated that the medical convoy succeeded in providing medical examination and treatment services to 785 cases from the people of Lahun village and neighboring villages, including Hawara Lahun village and Ezbet Sheikh Jad Allah, where 250 were examined in the field of orthopedics, 87 dental cases, 221 internal cases, and 227 children.
He added that the Faculty of Nursing participated during the convoy in an awareness seminar on the population issue and reproductive health, in which Dr. Amany Mahmoud Al-Sayed lectured and stressed that population growth is one of the most important problems facing the Egyptian state, and that population growth is a time bomb that can cause a major imbalance in the structure of Egyptian society, and that family planning and childbirth have many economic benefits for society and the individual, as spacing births organizes the family's resources for each child in an appropriate manner.
He pointed out that the Anti-Violence Against Women Unit at the university held an awareness campaign on issues of violence against women during the convoy today. Dr. Nohair El-Shoushany, Director of the Anti-Violence Against Women Unit at the university, and Prof. Ekram Megawer, Head of the Executive Committee of the Anti-Violence Against Women Unit at the university participated in the awareness campaign. The awareness campaign for the villagers addressed issues of violence against women, as the manifestations of violence against women in the Egyptian countryside were discussed, as well as how to deal with verbal violence in particular, and the impact of verbal violence on raising children. The phenomenon of early marriage and its causes were also discussed, as well as the trade-off between a girl completing her education and marrying at an early age. Women's participation in the costs of life and managing their household financially were discussed. The team also educated the villagers on the forms of violence against women and its impact on women, the family and society. The number of women and girls who were educated reached 80 girls and women. At the end of the convoy, the villagers thanked Fayoum University and Hayah Karima Foundation for the efforts made in the convoy.
