Prof. Yasser Hatata welcomed Major General Dr. Mohamed Abdelkhaleq Qashqoush to Fayoum University, in celebration of the university's commemoration of the glorious October victories. He emphasized the importance of raising students' awareness about Egypt's historical battles and issues, both past and present, to instill a spirit of patriotism and responsibility, preparing them to carry the nation’s banner in the future.
He noted that thanks to the October victory, Egypt has been able to implement its development and modernization plans. The 1973 October War, he said, is one of the most significant events in modern Egyptian history, a remarkable epic where all of Egypt's loyal citizens, from all segments of society and the military, came together. This victory carries valuable lessons for future generations.
Prof. Hatata also pointed out that Egypt was living through one of its most difficult periods before the war, but through the determination and willpower of its people, Egypt was able to turn its suffering into glory and pride.
During the seminar, Staff Major General Dr. Mohamed Abdelkhaleq Qashqoush shared several topics, including his personal experience in the 1967 war and the War of Attrition, culminating in the 1973 October War. He discussed the October War not only as a military conflict but also from political and legal perspectives, touching on various battles on land, sea, and air defense. He elaborated on the stages of preparation, including hospital evacuations, blood bank mobilizations, concealing war timings, strategic planning, and deception, along with the lessons learned and peace initiatives. He also referenced hand-written documents created during the battles.
Staff Major General Qashqoush highlighted the necessity of the October War, describing the suffering of the Egyptian people from 1967 to 1973, the occupation of Sinai as part of Egypt’s sacred soil, and the Egyptian leadership's efforts to achieve peace to avoid war. He stressed the importance of collective efforts from both the military and the civilian population in achieving victory.
He also advised the youth to stay informed, to read carefully, and to verify the information they receive, particularly in the face of false propaganda and misleading rumors spread by adversaries through social media. He emphasized that the victory was only possible due to the combined efforts of the Egyptian military and its brave soldiers, and that peace would not have been achieved without the victory.
At the end of the seminar, Prof. Yasser Magdy Hatata presented a shield of Fayoum University to Staff Major General Dr. Mohamed Abdelkhaleq Qashqoush as a token of respect and appreciation.
