Fayoum University Organizes a Symposium on “Environmental Requirements for Factories”

Under the patronage of Prof. Yasser Magdy Hatata, President of Fayoum University, Prof. Assem El-Essawy, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, witnessed the Symposium entitled: "Environmental Requirements for Factories”, which was organized by the Unit for Monitoring and Studying Community Problems in the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector.
The symposium was attended by Prof. Nabil Ahmed Awadallah, Director of the Center for Development Research and Requirements at the University, Dr. Basma Abdel Latif, Director of the Unit for Monitoring and Studying Community Problems at the University, Dr. Hossam Shaaban Zayed, Head of the Regional Branch of the Environmental Affairs Agency in Fayoum, and a number of officials and representatives of industrial facilities in Fayoum, Tuesday, 11/6/2024, at the Central Library.
Prof. Assem El-Essawy pointed to the university’s role in serving the local community as a beacon of knowledge and a house of expertise, highlighting the objectives of the Unit for Monitoring and Studying Community Problems. This unit was created within the university in providing technical and advisory support to industrial facilities, stressing the university’s readiness to harness all available capabilities to enhance integration. Between the university and the Environmental Affairs Agency and factories to achieve sustainable development of industrial facilities in the governorate, which reflects Fayoum University’s commitment to achieving sustainable development by supporting industry and preserving the environment.
Dr. Basma Abdel Latif said that the Problems Monitoring and Study Unit seeks to identify and study societal problems, with the aim of finding effective and innovative solutions to these problems by providing scientific and educational consultations and awareness-raising related to society, factories and companies, conducting specialized research, providing support services, training and laboratories, preparing environmental studies and reports for factories, and rehabilitation. To obtain the white license, food safety, and qualification for occupational safety and health, and apply questionnaires and research tools related to monitoring problems and working to solve them.
For his part, Dr. Hossam Shaaban said that the EEAA’s most important priorities are to preserve workers in factories and protect public health from pollution resulting from industrial facilities.
He added that many measures must be implemented to mitigate the harmful environmental effects that pose a threat to the health of workers and residents in industrial areas. The Environmental Affairs Agency also works to verify compliance with laws and develop the environmental performance of industrial facilities through guidance and guidance using technical support mechanisms, which can be applied in several ways. Fields and specializations, whether industrial, agricultural, engineering or chemical, with the participation of Fayoum University, which will provide technical, advisory, technical and monitoring support to overcome the problems facing facility owners, and ensure the effective implementation of safety and environmental requirements.
Representatives of industrial establishments also took turns speaking and presenting a number of inquiries, problems and obstacles facing them, which were answered, and the necessary environmental requirements for factories, environmental standards and requirements for applying the best innovative solutions to the identified problems were reviewed.
Prof. Assem El-Essawy, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, handed over certificates of appreciation to the factory representatives in appreciation of them.
