The faculty was established according to the cabinet’s decision No.780 on October 28th, 1990 .originally, It was a faculty for graduating primary school teachers. Later on, a plot of three and half feddans was allocated to the faculty. It began in 1990/1991 with one department for Home Economics; in 1991/1992 a department for Arts was added , another one for childhood in1992/1993 , a third one for Instructional Technology in 1995/1996.Finally, a department for English Language Teaching was added in 1996/1997.but this department didn't receive any students since 1999. Nowadays, there are four departments.
The Faculty joined the Cairo University in accordance with a presidential decree No.329 on the 1st of October 1998. And followed by a cabinet decree on 30th December, 2002 pertaining issuing the bye-law of Faculty of Specific Education, Cairo University, Fayoum Branch which was adopted since the academic year 2003/2004.
-Pursuant to the presidential decree No. 48 of 2005, Fayoum University became an independent entity.
