Pharmacology and Toxicology Department in one department in the Faculty of Pharmacy, concerned with teaching drugs and poisons regarding their dual interaction with biological systems. The effects of biological systems on drugs and poisons include absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion and are studied as pharmacokinetics and toxicokinetics. The effects of drugs and poisons on biological systems include mechanisms of action at gross, cellular and molecular levels, indications, contra-indications, adverse effects, interactions, dosages and therapeutic indices, maximal daily intakes, management of poisoning, ..etc. Courses supplied to undergraduate and graduate students of the medical career by or under the supervision of staff members of Pharmacology and Toxicology Department include Pharmacology, Toxicology, Clinical Pharmacology, Drug Therapy, Drug Interactions, Medical Terminology, Physiology, First Aid, Biostatistics, Biological Standardization and Veterinary Pharmacology.
