Fayoum University Celebrates 7th Commencement Day

  The 7th prestigious commencement ceremony of Fayoum University took place at its campus on December 30th, 2014.   The event was attended by Prof. El Sayed Abdel Khalek, Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Hazem Attiallah, Governor of Fayoum, Professor Khaled Ismael Hamza, President of Fayoum University, Professor Farid Awad Hedar, Vice President for Community Service and Environment Development, Professor Ahmed Gaber Shedid, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Professor Abdel Hamid Abdel Tawab Sabry, Former President of Fayoum University, and Mr. Saleh Gomaa, University Secretary-general. Vice deans, former deans and vice deans, faculty members, researchers and students were present, too.   More than 500 people in different domains were honored, including former deans and vice deans, winners of University Awards, and masters' and doctoral graduates.   During the ceremony, University President Prof. Khaled Hamza spoke about the achievements made by Fayoum University, pointing out that the University came first among the Egyptian universities in terms of the number of research papers published in physics and mathematics. He also said that the University won the first place in engineering and technological sciences; it also came second in activating e-courses.  He also spoke about the newly-opened university facilities, including the solar power lab and a center for thin film technology at the Faculty of Science, and the low cost healthcare unit at the Faculty of Dentistry.   Speaking during the event, Governor of Fayoum Dr. Hazem Attiallah voiced his delight for sharing the University its celebration, extending his warm thanks for the University President for his outstanding efforts in creating partnerships with the Governorate of Fayoum with the aim of developing the local community.  Taking the floor, Prof. El Sayed Abdel Khalek, Minister of Higher Education said: "I'm thrilled to be here today at Fayoum University which is celebrating its achievements over the past year."  He also added: "I'm so happy that I met one of the best researchers at Fayoum University – Dr. Ahmed Saad; he is a promising scientist in the field of renewable energy and I would like both the University and the Governorate of Fayoum to research in this field as it will save Egypt millions of dollars."
