Fayoum University: Workshop at the Research and Strategic Studies Institute for Nile Basin Countries

Titled: "Leveraging International Databases to Enhance Research Innovation for Nile Basin Regional Issues"

In cooperation with the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Branch at Fayoum University.Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Yasser Magdy Hattata, President of Fayoum University, and Prof. Dr. Assem El-Essawy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Nasser Abdel Sattar Abdelhady, Dean of the Institute, and Dr. Eman El-Hamamsy, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, the Institute organized the workshop "Leveraging International Databases to Enhance Research Innovation for Nile Basin Regional Issues" in cooperation with the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Branch at Fayoum University.The workshop was delivered by Dr. Eman El-Hamamsy, Assistant Professor of Business Administration and Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, with the attendance of a number of faculty members and postgraduate researchers from the Institute, on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at the Knowledge Embassy Hall in the Central Library.Dr. El-Hamamsy explained that the aim of the workshop is to highlight the importance of international databases and their role in serving scientific research objectives, the speed and ease of providing data and information, and supporting researchers’ ability to innovate research ideas on Nile Basin regional issues across the natural, economic, humanities, and medical sciences. She also emphasized the role of the Knowledge Embassy, Bibliotheca Alexandrina Branch at Fayoum University, in supporting researchers.During the workshop, Eng. Osama Salah El-Din, Knowledge Embassy Officer at Bibliotheca Alexandrina, presented an overview of Bibliotheca Alexandrina, its establishment, the development of the knowledge services it provides, the spread of Knowledge Embassies across Egyptian universities, and the support these embassies offer to researchers, as well as the international databases subscribed to by Bibliotheca Alexandrina. He then explained how to use international databases and search engines through the Bibliotheca Alexandrina portal.The floor was then opened for discussion with researchers to generate research ideas on how to provide data on the Nile Basin region and its key issues, and how to build interdisciplinary research bridges across different branches of science in this regard.At the conclusion of the workshop, Dr. Eman El-Hamamsy stressed the importance of activating the university email for every researcher as their academic identity, which enables access to international research databases and is essential for carrying out their research work.
