Announcing the Results of the “ISEF Fayoum 2026 – Local Science and Engineering Fair"

Under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed Al-Ansary, Governor of Fayoum, and Prof. Yasser Magdy Hatata, President of Fayoum University, Dr. Assem Fouad El-Essawy, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Sherif El-Attar, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, attended the closing ceremony and announcement of the results of the Fayoum Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF Fayoum 2026(.

The event was also attended by Brigadier General Sherif Amer, Military Advisor to the Governor of Fayoum; Dr. Khaled Khalaf Qubaisi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education in Fayoum; and members of the fair's judging panel, headed by Dr. Kamal Ghallab, former Dean of the Institute of Research and Strategic Studies for Nile Basin Countries and the university's competition coordinator. The panel also included faculty members from various university colleges, representatives of the church, and directors of educational departments, school principals, teachers, and students from different schools. The ceremony took place on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at the university's central library.

Prof. Sherif El-Attar explained that this competition includes a distinguished group of young inventors who participated in the fair's activities, emphasizing their promising future.

He also affirmed that the university consistently supports applied research and innovative projects due to their significant impact on humanity, praising the students' advanced ideas that clearly demonstrate a humanitarian dimension.

He described research and innovation as the first step on the path to success, urging students to further develop their ideas in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. He thanked the students for their active participation and the judging panel for their considerable efforts, which resulted in the final results.

Prof. Kamal Ghallab expressed his delight that Fayoum University has hosted this event since 2008, affirming that all participating students are winners for their innovative projects.

He noted the remarkable intellectual development this year, evident in the implementation of numerous training workshops that benefited approximately 20,000 students, in addition to the participation of 118 projects in this year's competition. He emphasized that building minds is more important than building bodies and that students are the innovators of the future and the driving force of development, urging them to continue diligently developing their ideas.

 

Dr. Khaled Qubaisi pointed out that the ongoing support and sponsorship of the fair, and Fayoum University's commitment to hosting it annually, have contributed to developing and utilizing students' skills, and especially given the university's significant and clear role in supporting the educational process.

Ms. Manar Salah, representing the Salah El-Din Association – the fair's sponsor – concluded her remarks by affirming that this event represents a genuine investment in students in the fields of science, engineering, and other creative disciplines.

During the event, Prof. Assem El-Essawy, Prof. Sherif El-Attar, and the guests visited and toured the various sections of the exhibition, listening to detailed explanations from participating students about their innovative ideas and creative projects. The International Science and Engineering Fair is the world's largest science competition for pre-university education (middle and high school) and encompasses 22 research fields, where talented students compete by presenting ideas and offering innovative solutions to local and global challenges.

This year, students from schools in the Fayoum Governorate's educational districts participated with 112 research projects, implemented by 176 students. In addition, several research projects by underage students and students with special needs received honorary participation due to their excellence.

The top 16 research projects will advance to the national competition, followed by the international competition in the United States.
