Prof. Sherif El-Attar, Vice President for
Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Assem El-Essawy, Vice President for
Community Service and Environmental Development and Supervisor of Postgraduate
Studies and Research, inaugurated the first edition of "Nagham 1"
Music Festival – dedicated to the artist Sayed Darwish – under the
patronage of Prof. Yasser Magdy Hatata, President of Fayoum University, on
Sunday, November 16, 2025, in the university's Grand Celebration Hall.
The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Ahmed
Rashad, Secretary General of the University, many deans and vice deans of
faculties, Prof. Wael Tobar, General Coordinator of Student Activities, and the
festival's guest of honor, artist Mohamed Ezz.
Moreover, members of the judging panel who attended are Mr. Syada Ali Mahmoud, Music Education Supervisor;
Musician Salah Mahmoud Zaky; and Maestro Wael Hamdy, director of the Fayoum
University Choir. A number of faculty members, administrators, and students
were also in attendance.
Prof. Sherif El-Attar explained that the festival
aims to discover and nurture the singing talents of Fayoum University students,
encouraging them and enhancing their artistic abilities. He emphasized the
importance of adhering to societal values and reviving traditional songs that
cultivate a spirit of loyalty and belonging to the nation. He noted that
outstanding individuals will be selected to join the university's choir.
For his part, artist Mohamed Ezz affirmed that singing
is an art form that unites multiple voices to create a cohesive melody,
contributing to a unique musical experience that fosters collaboration among
participants. He urged students to utilize their university time to express
their ideas and talents. He also praised the selection of the name of the
artist Sayed Darwish for the festival's inaugural edition, in recognition of
his artistic stature in Egypt and beyond.
It is worth mentioning that 13 faculties from
across the university are participating in the festival, which will take place
from November 16th to 19th, 2025, featuring group and
solo singing competitions. The top three winners in group singing and the first
and second place winners in solo singing will be honored.
The opening ceremony included honoring artist
Mohamed Ezz and presenting him with the university's shield in appreciation of
his contributions.
