Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Center for the Care and Rehabilitation of People with Disabilities

Under the patronage of Prof. Yasser Magdy Hatata, President of Fayoum University, the Board of Directors of the Center for the Care and Rehabilitation of People with Disabilities convened. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Assem El-Essawy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and included Prof. Sherif El-Attar, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Mohamed Farouk, former Vice President for Education and Student Affairs; Dr. Rania Shaaban, Director of the Center; Prof. Hany Abdel-Badea, Dean of the Faculty of Specific Education; Prof. Ahmed Abu Raya, Dean of the Faculty of Arts; Mr. Abdel-Nasser Bakry, Director General of the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector; and Ms. Ghada Sadek, Director of the Office of the Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development.

During the meeting, the council was briefed on the center's participation in the presidential initiative "Tamkeen" for people with disabilities during its first and second phases, and on the participation of university students with disabilities in the initiative's closing events held in Luxor Governorate from January 31 to February 6, 2026. The center also collaborated with the university's Social Solidarity Unit to celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

The meeting also addressed the commencement of training courses and workshops (speech therapy and sign language) for university students and graduates. Students from the center participated in an online introductory session on the "Start, Launch to Empower People with Disabilities" program with the Director of Programs at the Fund for the Care of Innovators and Talented Individuals at the Ministry of Higher Education. This session was a prelude to their participation in several projects. The names of the students selected to attend the online technical training camp on April 12, 2026, were also announced.

Furthermore, the meeting discussed training 15 visually impaired university students and graduates in a professional customer service program. This training will enhance their communication skills and significantly improve their employability. The meeting also considered the center's plans to organize the third "Will and Challenge" festival in the near future, as well as a proposal to hold the first scientific conference of the Center for the Care and Rehabilitation of People with Disabilities at Fayoum University, titled "Artificial Intelligence Applications and Their Role in Empowering People with Hearing and Visual Impairments."
