Under the patronage of Prof. Abdel Aziz Qansouh, Minister of Higher
Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Mohamed Hany Ghoneim, of Fayoum, and
Prof. Yasser Magdy Hatata, President of Fayoum University, attended the
university's Governor 18th Science Day celebration.
The event was also attended by Prof. Galal Mostafa Saeed, Minister of
Transport, Governor of Cairo, Governor of Fayoum, and former President of
Fayoum University; Prof. Saad Nassar, former Governor of Fayoum; Prof. Ayman
Essawy, Professor Emeritus at the Faculty of Medicine; Prof. Assem El-Essawy,
Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental
Development and Supervisor of Postgraduate Studies, Cultural Relations, and
Research; Prof. Sherif El-Attar, Vice President of the
University for Education and Student Affairs; members of the University
Council; Mr. Ahmed Rashad, Secretary General of the University; and honored
faculty members, researchers, and administrators. The celebration took place on
June 24, 2026, in the university's Grand Celebration Hall.
Dr. Mohamed Hany Ghoneim stated that honoring scientists is a
well-deserved gesture of appreciation for those who have dedicated their lives
to serving science, knowledge, and building future generations. He pointed out
that science represents the cornerstone of nations' progress and prosperity,
and that the future of a nation is linked to the extent of its citizens'
contributions in terms of innovative science and research. He emphasized that a
country's advancement and progress are measured by the attention it gives to
scientists and researchers and its support for scientific research.
He directed that the value of science be instilled in the hearts of new
generations and that a culture of excellence and diligence be fostered among
young people, thus contributing to preparing a generation capable of continuing
the journey of building and development and achieving the position that Egypt
deserves.
For his part, Prof. Yasser Magdy Hatata affirmed that Fayoum
University is keen to appreciate the efforts of all its faculty members and
staff for their effective contributions to supporting the educational and
research process and enhancing the university's standing and ranking at both
the local and international levels.
He pointed out that the scientific achievements of researchers
contribute to raising the university's standing, emphasizing the importance of
directing scientific research towards serving the community and providing
practical solutions that support development plans and address various
challenges.
He added that the Science Day celebration is an occasion to honor those
who have made significant contributions and achievements, including former
academic and administrative leaders, as well as distinguished faculty members
and staff, in recognition of their sincere efforts that have supported the
university's progress and the achievement of its goals.
In his speech on behalf of the honorees, Prof. Arafa Sabry Hassan,
former Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies, Cultural
Relations, and Research, affirmed that the Science Day celebration acknowledges
the value of scientists and reflects the importance of scientific research and
its role in the sustainable development process. He noted that scientific
research contributes to improving living standards, solving problems, and
overcoming current challenges.
It is worth noting that the first period witnessed the honoring of the

Prof. Galal Mostafa Saeed, former Minister of Transport, for receiving
the State Award for Pioneers in Engineering Sciences, and Prof. Abdel Hamid
Hamouda, former Dean of the Faculty of Arts, for receiving the King Faisal
Prize for Islamic Studies in its forty-eighth session for his work on trade
routes in the Islamic world.

Prof. Adel Mohamed El-Sayed, Professor in the Physics Department,
Faculty of Science, for receiving the Fayoum University Award for Excellence in
Scientific Research (Practical Sector).

Prof. Amal Gomaa Abdel Fattah, Dean of the Faculty of Education, for
receiving the Fayoum University Award for Excellence in Community Service and
Environmental Development and the Fayoum University Encouragement Award for
Scientific Writing (Literary Sector).

Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim Abdel Latif, Associate Professor in the Organic
Chemistry Department, Faculty of Pharmacy, and Dr. Ahmed Ismail Sabry, Lecturer
in the Pharmacognosy Department, Faculty of Pharmacy, for receiving the Fayoum
University Encouragement Award for Scientific Writing (Practical Sector).

Geography Department, Faculty of Arts, for receiving the Fayoum University
Encouragement Award for Scientific Writing (Literary Sector).

Dr. Hamdy Ahmed Abdel Rahman, Associate Professor in the Soil
Department, Faculty of Agriculture, for receiving the Fayoum University
Encouragement Award for Translation (Practical Sector).

Prof. Abdel Latif Fayez Ali, Professor in the History Department,
Faculty of Arts, for receiving the Fayoum University Encouragement Award for
Translation (Literary Sector).

Prof. Arafa Sabry Hassan, Former Vice President of the University for Postgraduate
Studies, Cultural Relations, and Research.

Former deans, former vice deans, and former administrative leaders were
honored, as was the recipient of the Ambassador Ali Al-Ashiri Award for Best
Applied Research at Fayoum University (first author and research team).

The team responsible for the international ranking file was also
honored, along with the recipients of the Fayoum University Award for Best
Doctoral Dissertation in the Arts Sector and the Fayoum University Award for
Best Master's Thesis in both the Science and Arts Sectors.

Furthermore, faculty members, teaching assistants, administrators, and
students from various colleges were recognized for their excellence in
international scientific publication.
It is worth noting
that during the 18th Science Day celebration, 1200 faculty members, teaching
assistants, researchers, administrators, staff, and students were honored.
