Comprehensive Medical Convoy Serves 1,394 Residents of Al-Ameriya Village

Under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed Al-Ansari, Governor of Fayoum, and Prof. Yasser Magdy Hatata, President of Fayoum University, and under the supervision of Prof. Assem Fouad El-Essawy, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector organized a comprehensive medical and awareness caravan at the health unit in Al-Ameriya village, Fayoum Center, in cooperation with the Hayah Karema Foundation, the Faculties of Medicine and Dentistry, and the Fayoum Health Directorate.

The medical convoy was organized under the supervision of Prof. Naglaa El-Sherbiny, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Prof. Lamia Ahmed Ibrahim, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry; Dr. Nevin Shaaban Abdrabou, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Fayoum; and Mr. Abdel-Nasser Bakry Mohamed, Director General of the General Administration for Community Service and Environmental Development. Dr. Heba Mohamed Abdel-Wahab, a lecturer at the Faculty of Social Work, representing the Combating Violence against Women Unit, was also present, along with doctors and administrators. The convoy arrived on Monday, January 12, 2026, at the village's health unit.

Prof. Assem Fouad El-Essawy stated that the convoy is part of an ongoing series of convoys launched by the university to serve the people of Fayoum Governorate, particularly in the most needy areas and villages. He emphasized that the university will spare no effort in utilizing its scientific and human resources to serve the local community.

He added that the medical convoy included a select group of doctors specializing in internal medicine, pediatrics, rheumatology, dermatology, otolaryngology, and dentistry. A total of 1,394 patients received medical examinations, broken down as follows: 310 internal medicine cases, 352 pediatric cases, 267 otolaryngology cases, 189 rheumatology cases, 209 dermatology cases, and 67 dental cases. Necessary treatment was dispensed to all patients.

The convoy also included an awareness component, with the participation of the university's Combating Violance Against Women Unit and Community Problems Monitoring Unit. Dr. Heba Mohamed Abdel Wahab conducted direct dialogues with families to identify the most prominent challenges and difficulties they face. She provided awareness sessions on community protection, focusing on the harms of female genital mutilation and the phenomenon of early marriage. She also informed women of their rights, how to confront verbal and physical violence and its effects, methods of protection, and the relevant authorities that provide necessary support in cases of any form of violence.
