National Reading Project Qualifying Rounds

Under the patronage of Dr. Abdel Aziz Qansouh, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Dr. Yasser Magdy Hatata, President of Fayoum University, Dr. Sherif El-Attar, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, attended the second stage of the "National Reading Project" competition at the university level. Also present were Dr. Adel Salem, the university's project coordinator; Dr. Wael Tobar, General Coordinator of Student Activities; and members of the judging panel, including Dr. Essam Ameriya, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Dar Al-Uloom for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Ahmed Farag Ahmed, Head of the Library Department at the Faculty of Arts; and a number of faculty coordinators and participating students. The event took place on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at the Central Library.

 

Dr. Sherif El-Attar emphasized that the competition aims to develop students' minds, broaden their intellectual and cultural horizons, and open new avenues for acquiring knowledge and exploring various fields. This contributes to building students' character, enhancing their critical thinking and analytical skills, and fostering a conscious perspective on diverse issues and topics.

 

During the competition, he engaged with the participating students to learn their opinions and impressions of the competition and their preferred reading and research areas.

Prof. Adel Salem explained that 15 students participated in the second stage of the competition, including 13 students from Fayoum University, one student from the Faculty of Islamic Studies at Al-Azhar University, and one student from Wadi El-Nil University in Fayoum. He noted that the competition comprised three levels: the Silver level, in which seven students competed to read 30 books; the Gold level, in which six students competed to read 50 books; and the Diamond level, in which two students competed to read 100 books. The winners of the second stage will advance to the national level competition at the Egyptian university level in August of this year.
