Under
the patronage of Prof. Yasser Magdy Hatata, President of Fayoum University, and
chaired by Prof. Assem El-Essawy, Vice President for Community Service and
Environmental Development, the periodic meeting of the Community Enlightenment Project
coordinators was held. The meeting was attended by Prof. Amal Rabie, the
project director, and project coordinators from the Faculties of Education,
Specific Education, Social Work, Sports Science, Arts, Archaeology, Tourism and
Hotels, and Al-Alsun, on Monday, July 20, 2026.
Prof. Assem
El-Essawy affirmed that the project has achieved remarkable successes. Five
years after its inception, the number of individuals who have become literate
in Fayoum Governorate reached 49,794 by the end of the April session.
He also
discussed several topics, including the final results of the April session, the
status of each participating faculty, the schedule of technical support visits,
the training program and the target number of literacy centers in Fayoum
Governorate, and the statistical report on the number of open classes and
students.
Dr.
Amal Rabie also reviewed the developments related to Fayoum University’s
participation in previous sessions, according to the report issued by the
Supreme Council of Universities and The General Authority for Literacy and
Adult Education, where Fayoum University ranked first with a rate of 62% among
23 institutions participating in literacy in Fayoum Governorate.
