Prof.
Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development and Acting Minister of Environment,
and Dr. Ahmed Al-Ansary, Governor of Fayoum, inaugurated the second edition of
the Fayoum International Festival for Environmental and Contemporary Arts Films.
The
opening ceremony was attended by Prof. Assem Fouad El-Essawy, Vice President of
the University for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof.
Ashraf Abdel-Maaboud, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels; Prof. Mona
Hassan Solaiman, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Prof. Wael Tobar, General
Coordinator of Student Activities at the University; and a number of
administrators and students. The ceremony took place on Tuesday, November 25,
2025, at Venice Village on the shores of Lake Qarun.
It is
worth noting that Fayoum University is the academic partner for the festival,
reflecting its commitment to supporting students and fostering a new generation
capable of expressing themselves and their communities. The university offers
free training workshops for students, covering topics such as cinematography,
editing, and directing, as well as advanced workshops led by prominent
filmmakers. This year's festival has also allocated monetary prizes to support
students and emerging filmmakers, a step that strengthens the local film
industry and moves away from traditional artistic centralization.
The
festival runs until November 30th and features 22 student films competing in a
special festival program, in addition to competitions for feature films and
short films.
