Hatata, President of Fayoum University, Prof. Assem Fouad El-Essawy, Vice
President for Community Service and Environmental Development and Supervisor of
Postgraduate Studies, Cultural Relations, and Research, announced that Fayoum
University has achieved remarkable progress at both the global and national
levels in the 2026 US News Best Global Universities rankings.
Prof. Kamal Ghallab, the university's
international rankings coordinator, explained that the university's global
ranking climbed 70 places out of 2,604 universities, reaching 831st place (up
from 901st the previous year), thus maintaining its position among the top
1,000 internationally ranked universities.
He added that the university retained its 40th
position in Africa, and its national
ranking improved to 16th, advancing two places from the previous year among
Egyptian universities.
In terms of scientific disciplines, the
university ranked 589th in physics, advancing approximately 55
places internationally from last year (previous ranking was 644th ).
Locally, the university improved its ranking by three places to reach sixth
place among Egyptian universities.
The university also ranked 698th
globally in engineering, advancing approximately 88 places internationally from
last year (previous ranking was 786th). Furthermore, it ranked 1037th
globally in chemistry, advancing approximately 50 places from last year
(previous ranking was 1087th ).
It is worth noting that the US News & World
Report rankings rely on several indicators to evaluate the academic and
research performance of universities, including: regional and international
presence, research and publications by university researchers, research
citations, and attendance at scientific conferences.
