Prof.
Sherif Mohamed Sabry El-Attar, Acting President of Fayoum University and Vice
President for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Assem Fouad El-Essawy,
Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, received Dr.
Mohamed El-Touny, Deputy Governor of Fayoum, as part of the activities of the
Leadership Development Camp held at the university under the title:
"Modern Egypt: From Challenge to Achievement - The Journey of Development
and the Will to Build." Dr. El-Touny delivered a lecture to the camp
participants entitled: "Human Development: The Foundation of Development
and the Making of the Future," on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, in the
university's Grand Celebration Hall.
The
meeting was also attended by Prof. Wael Tobar, General Coordinator of Student
Activities, members of the camp's judging committee, faculty members, and
directors.
Prof. Sherif
El-Attar welcomed Dr. Mohamed El-Touny to Fayoum University and his
participation in this meeting, which aims to discuss ways to prepare and build
a modern Egypt that contributes to supporting the nation's progress. He
emphasized that Egypt possesses the resources and capabilities to be among the
ranks of developed nations, and he commended the various forms of cooperation
between the university and Fayoum Governorate in serving the nation and all its
citizens.
Prof.
El-Attar also explained that the meeting with Dr. Mohamed El-Touny embodies the
integration between the academic vision represented by Fayoum University and
the executive vision represented by Fayoum Governorate. This facilitates a
fruitful dialogue on development issues, human development, preparing youth for
the future, and providing students with significant scientific and intellectual
value through real-world experiences.
Prof.
Sherif El-Attar emphasized that Fayoum University is committed to providing
such gatherings, which broaden the horizons of dialogue for students and
connect academic knowledge with practical experiences. This contributes to
preparing a generation that is aware, capable of shouldering responsibility,
and actively participating in building Egypt's future. He noted that building
nations is only achieved through the efforts of their people, and that the
youth of Fayoum University consistently demonstrate their awareness,
creativity, and ability to propose constructive ideas and launch initiatives
that serve the community and support the development process.
During
his lecture, Dr. Mohamed El-Touny stressed that true leadership is not measured
by position or power, but rather by the impact one leaves on their community
and the work and service they provide for the common good. He pointed out that
the life of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) presents a complete model
of wise leadership based on justice, patience, hard work, and setting a good
example.
He
added that every young person can be an influential leader in their community
and field, without waiting to reach a leadership position, especially since
leadership begins with initiative, taking responsibility, and making a positive
impact. The true measure of leadership is the extent of a person's contribution
to those around them and the degree of their service to their community. He
also addressed the importance of young people possessing the necessary
awareness, particularly in light of the regional and geopolitical challenges
the world is witnessing. He further stressed the need to verify information
before sharing it on social media and to avoid being swayed by rumors and
unreliable information, given the fundamental role of community awareness in
supporting the state's ability to confront challenges and crises.
Dr.
Mohamed El-Touny also reviewed a number of issues and challenges facing Fayoum
Governorate, including the water sector. This included the governorate's
geographical characteristics, its water management and distribution system, and
the importance of the rational use of water and the preservation of water resources,
which contributes to maintaining ecological balance, especially for Lake Qarun.
He
emphasized the importance of hard work, patience, continuous learning, and
initiative in building young people's career paths. He shared aspects of his
personal experience from his university years, including his participation in
student activities, community service, and training, followed by diverse
professional experiences that contributed to developing his skills and
expertise.
Regarding
the role of sports in shaping young people's character, the Deputy Governor
explained that sports contribute to developing discipline, a spirit of
cooperation, and the ability to face challenges. He discussed the Egyptian
state's efforts in developing sports infrastructure and facilities, discovering
talent, and the ongoing development work at sports facilities in the
governorate. He also stressed the importance of raising community awareness
about practicing sports as a fundamental element for maintaining health and
quality of life.
He also
emphasized the importance of integration among all state institutions to
support development efforts and serve the local community. He commended the
role of the Faculty of Computers and Artificial Intelligence at Fayoum
University in the field of digital transformation, leveraging modern
technologies and artificial intelligence to develop services and support the
governorate's efforts to build an integrated information system that
contributes to improving performance and enhancing decision-making efficiency.
This is especially relevant as Fayoum Governorate is working to maximize the
use of data and modern technologies, in cooperation with the Cabinet
Information Center, through the development of an information map for the
governorate and the application of artificial intelligence technologies in data
analysis, problem prediction, decision-making support, and institutional and
crisis management.
He also
listened to the students' inquiries and questions on a number of topics and
issues related to leadership, youth, sports, community participation, and
training and employment opportunities. He stressed the importance of direct
dialogue with young people, listening to their ideas and suggestions, and
opening opportunities for them to participate in the service initiatives and
projects implemented by the governorate.
At the
end of the meeting, Prof. Sherif Al-Attar presented the Fayoum University
shield to Dr. Mohamed Al-Touni, in appreciation of his efforts and support for
cooperation between the governorate and the university, and his participation
in the activities of the leadership preparation camp and the insights and
experiences he provided to the students.
