Under
the patronage of Prof. Abdel-Aziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and
Scientific Research, Prof. Sherif Mohamed Sabry El-Attar—Acting President of
Fayoum University and Vice President for Education and Student Affairs—oversaw
the reception of the torch for the 14th Universities and Higher
Institutes Youth Week (scheduled to be held at Minia University). The event
took place on Sunday, September 13, 2026, and was attended by Prof. Assem Fouad
El-Essawy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development
(and Supervisor of the Postgraduate Studies, Cultural Relations, and Research
Sector); Mr. Ahmed Rashad, University Secretary-General; as well as various
faculty deans, vice-deans, administrative staff, and students from across the
campus.
The
Minia University delegation included Prof. Mohamed Khalafallah Mahmoud (Head of
the Delegation) and students Assem Mohamed Bakry and Shawkat Ashour Hassan from
the Faculty of Sports Sciences.
Prof. Sherif
El-Attar expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to the President
Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi for the great attention he devotes to Egyptian youth, his
constant commitment to empowering them and supporting their creativity, and his
efforts to provide them with opportunities for participation, leadership, and
shaping the future.
He also
extended his sincere thanks and appreciation to Prof. Abdel-Aziz Konsowa,
Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, for sponsoring such
significant youth gatherings.
He
added that the 14th Egyptian Universities Youth Week is a premier
event bringing together students from Egyptian universities and higher
institutes in an atmosphere of competition, creativity, and cooperation. Held
under the slogan "From the Heart of Upper Egypt, We Create," the
event is scheduled for September 25–30, 2026, at Minia University, with the
participation of approximately 30 universities and higher institutes.
Prof.
Sherif El-Attar praised Minia University, and University President Prof. Essam El-Din
Sadek Farhat, and the university leadership for hosting this major youth event
and for the efforts invested in preparing for a week that brings together youth
from Egyptian universities. He also praised the efforts of Fayoum University’s
leadership, students, the General Administration for Student Welfare, the
"Students for Egypt" family, and everyone who contributed to
organizing and welcoming the torch in a manner befitting the event and the
university's stature.
He
explained that these gatherings are not merely sports, cultural, or artistic
events; rather, they are opportunities to discover talent, build character,
exchange experiences, and instill values of teamwork, a sense of belonging,
and fair competition. He noted that the torch reception was accompanied by a
visit to a national project within Fayoum Governorate—the new Al-Azab Water
Station—emphasizing that creativity is not limited to competitions and
activities but extends to everything being built and accomplished across the
nation. He added that the projects witnessed today are part of the Egypt of the
future, a future for which these students will bear responsibility tomorrow.
In
conclusion, Prof. Sherif El-Attar encouraged students to participate and
innovate, urging them to view every gathering as a new experience, every
competition as a learning opportunity, and every talent as the start of a path
toward success and excellence. He affirmed that creativity springs from the
hearts of Egypt's youth and that it is through them that the future is shaped.
